Trip Notes – Things Learned, Observed, or Noticed #3

Non-Golf

mj: Reinforced that everywhere is unique, beautiful, and livable in it’s own way

sbj: West coast games really are tough to watch on the East coast… 10:30 start times are rough!

mj: There are accents within this country that I have difficulty understanding, and wonder if the reverse is true

sbj: People in the Southeast (at least in South Carolina) don’t use the word “freeway” they say “interstate”

mj: Piggly-wiggly’s exist, and are not just in movies

sbj: East coast garbage collectors are “old school” and get your garbage whether there is a car in front of it or not

Golf

sbj: The slope of a course matters, a lot, to a golfer of my caliber.

mj: It’s not okay to let a bladed club touch the green

sbj: Surprisingly few golf courses have really good “true” bunkers

mj: Different types of shots (draw, hook, slice, fade, snap hook)

sbj: On a good bent grass green you really need to get a good read not just of the break and distance, but the grain of the green as well; if not, the same (pretty decent) putt can come up 2 feet short or 6 feet long.

mj: Learned that a 4:45 round is super-long, and slow

  1. Yes, Interstate. That’s why they are I-95, I-10, I-75, I-85, etc!
And, I used to shop at a Piggly Wiggly when I was a little kid, with my grandmother. 😀
Garbage collectors are awesome and WILL grab your can regardless of cars. BUT, mail delivery is less awesome when a car parks in front of your mailbox!
