A little more from our on going discussions about the trip and what we have learned, observed or noticed…
About Golf
MJ: Golf is pretty and peaceful.
Sbj: Melanie is a good student of the game (and becoming a very good caddie!)
Mj: “Bermuda grass you should use a one pokey-stick divot fixer-thing”
Sbj: More golf does not insure better golf, the worst two golf days of the trip thus far were (by far) rounds 15 and 16
Mj: Different courses handle things like restrooms, food at the turn, and water differently, a lot of times a course that you expect to handle things a certain way doesn’t
Sbj: Golf uses different muscle groups than basketball, and I’m dealing with some muscle fatigue #TheStruggleIsReal
Mj: Learned that for some golf courses, waste areas (as an example) are out of bounds, on some they are not
Sbj: I really like playing from the back tee’s
Mj: An experienced golfer and a non-golfer will see a golf course entirely differently
Sbj: Expectations play a considerable role in impressions of a golf course
Non-Golf…
Sbj: Alligators are far more sedentary than I remembered
MJ: Really liked the feel of the french quarter
Sbj: Hotels with laundry rooms are straight gold on a long road trip
Mj: Texas and Oklahoma have vast wind farms
Sbj: Waffle House is the Mattress Firm of the Southeast
Mj: Photography bugs exist, and I’ve been bitten
Sbj: Depending on the task adding one little thing (on a per state basis) can be a major “workload”
Mj: Eastern seaboard states use the term “exchanges” for exits on the freeways
Sbj: So… Many… Turtles… (in the Southeast)
Mj: There are accents within this country that I have difficulty understanding, and wonder if the reverse is true
That’s it for this edition… we’ll be back with more before long (the list is growing)
Thanks for playing along!!!
Finally tuning in to your site – fascinating! I am at my son’s (your age, Soren) in southern CA and headed to Disneyland for Mother’s Day and Monday. Happy travels and golfing!
