The reason the pro tells you to keep your head down is so you can’t see him laughing. ~Phyllis Diller
The weather finally relented a bit this week. Well… the later half of this week that is, on Tuesday Boise looked like this:
In the “what-a-difference-a-day-makes” category, this was today:
Closed putting green notwithstanding, it was a great day for Spring(ish) golf. I wouldn’t have minded a few more degrees (it was 41 when I started), but with the sun shining and virtually no wind, I’m certainly not one to complain. Pierce Park Greens is a neighborhood driving range and 9 hole par three about a mile from my house so it really didn’t take much time out of my day to run over and hit some balls.
Given they were my first struck balls since last fall, everything felt great. I only hit my 8 iron down and the only club that gave me any problems was the gap wedge, which I hit last (for the most part it was fine also, but there were a few less-then-amazing efforts). The closest thing to an issue I had, quite honestly, were the three guys hitting next to me who seemed to be confused as to whether they were at a driving range or a wine infused book club meeting. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard that much consistent chatter before from people who were actually hitting balls. I guess if that’s’ your biggest problem, though, you’re having a pretty good day!
There will be more five course introductions next week (ranging from New Mexico to Rhode Island) so stay tuned! Also, don’t forget the course map, which gets updated every time we do an introduction (currently there are 6 mapped courses).
